The Bestseller

I don’t want to be that bestseller book. The one you couldn’t wait in line for or purchase in advance. You were ecstatic when it was gifted to you because you saved some money and time.

You took it home and couldn’t put it down. You read it and were excited about getting to the next chapter. Heck you even spoke to your close friends and family about such a great gift.

You peruse it once again to be able to participate in the monthly book reader’s club. You love the pages and the cover. You feel so proud to have read it because now you are admired for knowing the most about the plot and the main character.

Overtime you find interest in other books so you place it on your shelf. It just sits there collecting dust and it’s pages turning yellow. You barely look at it anymore but you still brag about how you got the bestseller. It’s very valuable and coveted by many readers but it’s yours.

But then you find another bestseller book that occupies your time. The older best seller book is just there watching you but you don’t even care. It’s pages haven’t been touched in many years. The sun has burned the cover making it fade in color. It barely resembles the book you loved years ago.

In summary you are nothing but a mere book reader without appreciation for the value of what he reads or has. I’ve seen how you part from books so easily. You sell your books for a few cents, donate them but mostly you just throw them out along with the trash.

So no I don’t want to be that bestseller book on your shelf. I want to be like the dictionary or the Bible because you can never be without either of those two. You will always need to check spellings and you will always need guidance.

Sending you good vibes from Brooklyn. Muah Guady G
